Mark Pattis is the CEO of Next Chapter Holdings, L.P., an entity that manages the Pattis family investments. Prior to creating Next Chapter Holdings, Pattis served as Chairman (1999-2000) and President/CEO (1996-1999) of The Tribune Company’s NTC/Contemporary Publishing Group.
Pattis worked at NTC in various capacities from 1978 onwards, serving as Publisher and CEO at the time of the Tribune’s acquisition. Prior to joining NTC, Pattis held positions at The Chase Manhattan Bank, The American National Bank, and the Marmon Group.
At NTC Pattis led the book publishing company’s efforts to create electronic editions of its reference and language publications, receiving the Sony Electronic Book Award of Excellence in 1994.
Pattis has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Swarthmore College and continued graduate studies at the University of Chicago, the London School of Economics and the Sorbonne.
