Article: Police detain 114 immigrants smuggled into Greece from Turkey

Police detained 114 illegal immigrants found hiding in a truck in northern Greece after being smuggled into the country across the northeastern border with Turkey, authorities said Friday.

The immigrants included at least two children and were believed to be from Pakistan, Iraq, India, Ethiopia, the Middle East and Somalia. Two Romanians _ the truck driver and the driver of a car traveling ahead of the truck _ were also arrested, police said.

The immigrants were allegedly expecting to be taken to Athens and were each to have paid the Romanians US$4,000 (2,700), police said.
