Article: 'I'm proud to be Chinese,' raps Hong Kong democracy icon on YouTube music video

A leading pro-democracy figure in the Chinese territory of Hong Kong, criticized for suggesting a political debate be held in English instead of Chinese, has defended her patriotism in a different light _ a music video on YouTube.

Anson Chan, 67, showed off her Chinese pride by appearing in a rap music video lip-synching the words to "Proud To Be Chinese," by Cantopop star Scott Hui.

The video was one of many submitted by Chinese around the world as part of a competition organized by MTV Asia and the Web site, Proud to Be Chinese, and uploaded onto YouTube. Winners will see their video aired on MTV, and win a contract to produce Hui's next music video.
