Article: US State Department's top investigator says he never impeded probes to protect administration

The U.S. State Department's top investigator said Wednesday he never impeded any inquiries to protect Bush administration officials and blamed allegations that he did on a dysfunctional office that he was attempting to transform.

Howard Krongard, the department's inspector general, said at a hearing before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee that he has no political ties and has never had any communication with anyone in the White House since he took the job nearly two and half years ago.
