Article: Cyclone Daman Heads Toward Northern Fiji

A powerful tropical cyclone packing wind gusts up to 155 mph headed Friday toward northern Fiji, where officials feared that it would blow away the thatched homes of islanders overnight.

Cyclone Daman was rated a Category 4 cyclone, and it was expected to cause major flooding and serious damage to islanders' homes in the South Pacific nation after smashing ashore later Friday, senior forecaster Matt Boterhoven said.
