Article: American says recalling nearly 250 furloughed flight attendants

American Airlines said it plans to recall about 250 furloughed flight attendants.

For American, this is the seventh round of recalls since 2003 and the fourth this year. This round of recalls, like several recent ones, involves former TWA flight attendants who were laid off after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Just months before the attacks, American's parent, AMR Corp., bought TWA out of bankruptcy. The TWA flight attendants were put at the bottom of American's seniority list, making them the first to be laid off and among the last to be rehired.
