Article: Lebanese troops open fire on Israeli warplanes flying over south Lebanon

Lebanese troops opened fired Monday on Israeli warplanes flying over southern Lebanon, but no direct hits were reported, a senior military official said.

It was the second time the Lebanese army had fired on Israeli fighter jets flying over southern Lebanon since a U.N.-brokered cease-fire ended a 34-day war between Israeli forces and Hezbollah guerrillas in August 2006.

"A number of hostile warplanes violated the Lebanese airspace Monday, flying at a medium altitude over the city of Tyre and the town of Naqoura," the official told The Associated Press.
