Britain's head of overseas intelligence warned that vital information on al-Qaida would be lost if prosecutors pursued an investigation into alleged corruption by BAE Systems PLC in an arms deal with Saudi Arabia, lawmakers disclosed Tuesday in a report.

The annual report of the Intelligence and Security committee, a panel of legislators who scrutinize the work of Britain's intelligence and security agencies, revealed that ministers were advised that the inquiry could have had damaging repercussions.
