Article: In Germany, a tax evasion probe expands with more raids, more calls for accountability

Authorities investigating alleged tax evasion by Germans stashing money abroad mounted more raids on Monday in and around Munich and in Hamburg, a day after the government said it paid an informant for names of account holders with a Liechtenstein bank.

Christian Schmidt-Sommerfeld, Munich's chief prosecutor, said the raids were done in cooperation with investigators in Bochum who are looking into more claims of tax evasion, following the resignation of Klaus Zumwinkel, the chief executive of Deutsche Post AG.

Zumwinkel submitted his resignation last week after Bochum prosecutors said he was suspected of evading taxes through investments in Liechtenstein.
