Article: NYC judge doesn't want Ja Rule to post co-defendants' bails

A judge said she was troubled that rapper Ja Rule had posted thousands of dollars in bonds for two co-defendants in a gun possession case, and said the two should come up with their own bail packages.

State Supreme Court Justice Micki Scherer said she was concerned by the bond pledges at the July arraignment of Ja Rule, Dennis Cherry and Mohamed Gamal on second- and third-degree gun possession charges.

Ja Rule _ whose real name is Jeffrey Atkins _ "has put himself in the position of perhaps controlling the outcome of the case. I think the potential for it is a big problem," the judge said Wednesday.
