Article: Barge traffic blocked on Mississippi River by emergency repairs to locks

Scores of barges and pleasure boats have been unable to move on the central section of the Mississippi River because a set of locks has been closed for emergency gate repairs.

The Army Corps of Engineers hoped to reopen Lock 25, about 45 miles (75 kilometers) northwest of St. Louis, by Monday night, allowing traffic to pass for the first time since last Wednesday, said spokesman Alan Dooley.
