A new case of mad cow disease has been confirmed in Canada, its 13th case since 2003.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency said Monday it is investigating where the infected cow was born in British Columbia.

Mad cow disease is also known as bovine spongiform encephalopathy, or BSE.
