Joel Pineiro and three relievers combined on a six-hitter, and Rick Ankiel and Ryan Ludwick hit solo homers for the St. Louis Cardinals to beat the Philadelphia Phillies 2-0 in the National League on Tuesday.
Pineiro (3-4) allowed five hits and walked three in 6 1-3 innings for his first win since April 29. He was 0-2 with seven no-decisions in his previous nine starts.
Cole Hamels (9-6) gave up three hits _ including the home runs _ in seven innings and struck out eight.
Ankiel hit his 19th homer in the fifth and Ludwick hit his 18th in the sixth.
