Article: 14 Filipinos charged with tampering with crude oil pipelines in Nigeria

Fourteen Filipino nationals detained in Nigeria after thousands of tons of crude oil were found on their boat have been charged with tampering with oil pipelines and unlawfully handling petroleum products on Monday.

The detainees were taken to Warri state prison where they will be held until their trial starts next month.

The men were arrested on July 11 off the coast of the oil-producing state of Bayelsa after navy gunboats chased their vessel down. The military allege that they found over 150,000 tons of stolen crude oil aboard.
