Article: Report: Plane left course before crashing in PR

A small plane that crashed in a Puerto Rican rain forest with the death of two Americans had deviated from its assigned flight path, according to a preliminary U.S. government report.

The Dec. 3 crash killed Kent W. Clapp, CEO of Cleveland-based Medical Mutural of Ohio, and his fiancee Tracy Turner, a board member of Ohio's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum and of the Cleveland Play House. Pilot Ken Webster also died.

Webster told an air traffic controller that his Rockwell International 690B was descending to 3,200 feet (975 meters), but was advised that the minimum altitude was 5,500 feet (1,675 meters), according to a National Transportation Safety Board report now ...
