A Republican senator said Friday he's under consideration to become President Barack Obama's commerce secretary and is honored to be considered.

Sen. Judd Gregg of New Hampshire said in a statement that he's aware his name is on the list, but he wouldn't comment further about the possible appointment. Senior Democrats said Gregg is among the top candidates for the Democratic president's Cabinet.
