Belfonte Ice Cream and Dairy Foods Co. is recalling peanut-containing ice cream because the product could be contaminated with salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems. No illnesses have been reported, according to the company. The recalled ice cream was sold in retail and convenience stores in Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma.
