Article: Norway upsets Germany 1-0

Norway beat Germany for the first time in 73 years when it upset the European Championship runner-up 1-0 in a friendly Wednesday.

Christian Grindheim scored the winning goal in the 63rd minute, scoring from close range at the far post after a throw-in. Morten Gamst Pedersen sent in a low cross that went by four German defenders before Grindheim connected.

Germany fell to its second consecutive loss, after the 2-1 defeat by England in November in Berlin.

The first _ and only previous time _ Norway had beaten Germany was a 2-0 victory at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin. Germany is No. 2 in FIFA's rankings, 57 places above Norway.
