Norddeutsche Affinerie AG, Europe's largest copper producer, reported Thursday it fell to a euro98 million ($126 million) loss in the first quarter, saying a steep drop in copper prices cut into its bottom line.

The Hamburg-based company said its loss for the October through December period, its fiscal first quarter, compared with a net profit of euro60 million in the year prior quarter.
