Article: Slovakia, Austria to be connected by oil pipeline

Slovakia and Austria have signed a deal to connect their oil pipeline networks as part of efforts to secure alternative energy supplies, Slovakia's Economy Ministry said Friday.

According to the deal signed by Slovakia's Economy Minister Lubomir Jahnatek and his Austrian counterpart Reinhold Mitterlehner, the two counties will build a new 62-kilometers (39-mile) pipeline that will link the Friendship pipeline which brings Russian crude oil to Slovakia with a refinery in Schwechat.
