Sensus America has had a health claim linking its Frutafit brand of inulin to colon health approved by the Dutch Public Health Ministry. Specifically, the approval was granted for a line of Frutafit-enriched bread products manufactured by Bakkerij Veenhuis, a unit of Royal Ahold. The breads will be sold under the Vitaalbrood brand through Ahold-owned Albert Heijn supermarkets across the Netherlands. Brown and multigrain loafs have been available since mid-January.
This is only the third dossier to be approved by the Ministry of Public Health under the Dutch code of practice for health claims; the other two have both been for phytosterol-enriched margarine spreads, ...
