NOSEGAY COCKTAIL
One of the most popular fruit cocktails of the 1930s, when luncheons became part of society life, was the nosegay, or bouquet, cocktail. Here's a recipe from "Fashionable Food: Seven Decades of Food Fads" by Sylvia Lovegren (MacMillan, 1995, $25).
1 large egg white, slightly beaten
1 honeydew melon, cut into balls
2 peaches, peeled, pitted, and cubed
{ cup small strawberries, hulled and cut in half
\ cup lemon juice
