An ectothermic's ability to regulate its body temperature influences a variety of behavioral patterns and physiological processes (ie., predator/prey, reproduction, digestion). To better understand the thermodynamics of ectotherms we must first be able to accurately measure their body temperature. The first part of this study looked at measuring body temperature at several different places, on and inside, the ghost crab Ocypode quadrata. Our results show that both the claw and body temperatures were usually within 1/2[degrees]C of each other.
