As an out reporter who favorably reviewed The Ethel Merman Disco Album for Billboard in 1979, I don't think you should be so quick to dismiss Merman's effort ["Disco Wrecking Ball," March 4]. At the time, she was the biggest (in many ways) Broadway star to do disco.

Disco was a fun era and must have had something going for it, since many young gays and straights are enjoying its current revival at some clubs and on major FM radio ...
