Last year, Finns sent 1.4bn text messages from their mobile phones.
The use of the so-called SMS service increased by 18% in 2002, but although the mobile services are used more and more, the value of the market remains the same as the services are becoming cheaper.
On average, 27 text messages were sent from each mobile phone subscription per month in 2002.
