JERRY SPRINGER - The Opera is set to open at the National Theatre.
Revolving around America's notorious talk show, the theatre's first new opera includes pole-dancing housewives, transvestites and grown men with nappy fetishes.
Artistic director Nicholas Hytner says: "I love its violent marriage of high and low culture." The Evening Standard despatched a leading moral commentator to trailer-trash hell to find out if she agreed.
