Since both blackjack and baccarat are "add'em up" games played with cards, I'm often asked whether baccarat is also a good game to gamble on. My stock three-word answer is, "It ain't bad."
Baccarat was originally a "status" game at most gaming houses. The croupiers wore tuxedos, and minimum bets were quite high. The table was a very large oval with seating for 12 to 14 in a posh area of the casino. Players usually dressed the part, too, and splashed around impressively high wagers.
