LAWRENCE, Kan. _ Now that it's over and the decision has been made, it wasn't surprising that former Kansas basketball coach Roy Williams returned to his true nature Thursday night at the Jayhawks' season-ending banquet.

Williams' return to Lawrence to face the very people he betrayed by bolting to North Carolina might have been Williams' finest moment as a Jayhawk.

"The easy way would've been not to come," Williams remarked in his brief five-minute address that was greeted with applause and a short standing ovation by the 3,000 KU supporters in attendance.

It certainly would gave been easier for Williams to skip ...
