Article: Budget Cuts for Tampa, Fla., Housing Authority to Be Less Than Expected.

Apr. 18--TAMPA, Fla.--Braced for its largest budget cut, the Tampa Housing Authority had lined up jobs, salaries and programs for the chopping block.

But now the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has given the authority 87 percent of the $14 million budget it had last year -- 17 percentage points more than predicted.

HUD said the number will be adjusted to 90 percent in the coming weeks, and could go up more by July, said Mark Huey, the Tampa Housing Authority's chief financial officer.
