Independent funeral homes this week began running newspaper advertisements urging families not to use Service Corporation International's Syracuse area funeral homes.
The advertisements play off community anger at SCI's abrupt decision to close Marsellus Casket, a 131-year-old Syracuse institution.
"Wall St. or Main St.?" asks the Sunday advertisement run by the Krueger Funeral Home Inc. in Mattydale.
The ad on The Post-Standard's obituary page tells customers that Krueger will accept transfers of any arrangements made with Pirro & Sons Funeral Home, Farone & Sons Funeral Home, Bagozzi Twins ...
