SAN JOSE, CA -- SAN JOSE, CA, April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- At approximately 9:30 AM (London , UK local time) the world leader of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community His Holiness Mirza Tahir Ahmad passed away due to heart failure. He was 74 years old.

Mirza Tahir Ahmad was elected Caliph of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community on June 10, 1982. Over the course of his 21 year term he made significant advancement for the promotion of society. At the time of his demise the membership of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community numbered at well over 170 million with mosque, mission houses, hospitals and schools in over 170 countries.
