ON SATURDAY night, Charlotte Church - sporting a new hairstyle and a dazzling, plunge-necked, diamante- studded ball gown - topped the bill in Las Vegas.
Only a few years ago, of course, she was among the biggest-selling female singers in America, along with the likes of Madonna and Janet Jackson.
But her tour of the U.S. last year provoked accusations of stroppy behaviour (during one celebrated tantrum she is said to have refused to meet a group of relatives of cast members who had been waiting patiently backstage to see her). Moreover, her concerts received mixed reviews and attendances were disappointing.
