The Mirza Ismail Road--a river of dusty bicycles, crowded compact cars and tiny motorized carts buzzing like noisy beetles--seems like an unlikely location for one of the world's most important jewelry boutiques. Smiling, runny-nosed children charm money from tourists, and shoppers in saris bargain with street vendors wearing rubber flip-flops on a hot, dry February morning. It couldn't be further from Breakfast at Tiffany's.
But in front of one of the many jewelry outlets along the road--undistinguished from its neighbors save for the lack of merchandise in the window--an elegant 84-year-old woman her white hair falling loosely around her face, sits in the back ...
