PULLMAN -- The last time I saw Matt Kegel at Martin Stadium well, let's don't go there yet.
Washington State has just finished another spring football practice. Now that Jason Gesser is gone, Kegel takes over as Cougars starting quarterback.
The senior from Havre, Mont., has distanced himself from Josh Swogger and Chris Hurd and will be under center for WSU in its season opener against Idaho on Aug. 30 at Seahawks Stadium.
"Unless he falls flat on his face," said Coug coach Bill Doba.
