Congress recently passed an "Amber Alert" law designed to draw the combined forces of a community together whenever a child is abducted.
The chances of your child ever being abducted, however, are miniscule, suggests Anna Salter, a Madison psychologist.
On the other hand, Salter warns, one in five of your daughters and between 9 percent and 15 percent of your sons will be sexually molested during their youth.
Salter, who specializes in the treatment of sexual abuse, recently published a book on the subject, "Predators: Pedophiles, Rapists and Other Sex Offenders" (Basic Books: $26).
