Treading a Difficult Path in Contradictions
The overall caustic soda market in China in 2002 could be summarized as follows: small price increase in the first quarter; technical readjustment of the market price in the second quarter under the impact of low-priced imports; initial downturn signs in the domestic market in the third quarter due to low demand in the international market; price decrease in the fourth quarter caused by the weakening demand in downstream enterprises and the producers' solution of reducing inventory.
