If Yankee Candle was going to cut 75 percent off the price of its scented candles, Mary Lou Davis was willing to get in a two-hour line and wait.
Davis was among thousands of shoppers that queued up for a one-day warehouse sale at The Yankee Candle Co.'s flagship store in South Deerfield on a recent afternoon. She'd taken the day off from work, driven with her husband from their home in Troy, N.Y., and made it halfway through a line that snaked around a parking lot outside the jam-packed event.
"The $20 candles are $5," Davis beamed. "I have a list of candles to buy for friends I work with."
