Cutting down branches
Employees at the city's public library branches are feeling like second-class citizens.
Last month, The New York Public Library President Paul LeClerc notified his staff that a new round of city budget cuts could force the library to eliminate as many as 110 union positions. What he didn't mention is that the layoffs would come only from among the 1,200 employees at the 85 branch libraries under the Public Library's jurisdiction.
