Apr. 26--WASHINGTON--The Department of Transportation on Friday accused American Airlines of discriminating against passengers who were, or appeared to be, of Middle Eastern descent in the months after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
The department alleged in a complaint that 10 passengers -- most of them U.S. citizens -- who had been properly ticketed and passed all security checks were either removed from flights or denied boarding between Sept. 11 and Dec. 31, 2001.
