Apr. 26--HAMPTON, Va.--Cindy Curtis and Chris Callisto started planning the garden wedding they wanted to celebrate today by booking the Fort Monroe gazebo for the service and the Chamberlin Hotel for the reception more than a year ago.
In the final weeks of her preparations, Curtis, an Air Force nurse, decided to swing by the historic hotel to drop off a check for the room because she had been unable to reach management on the telephone for three weeks. To her horror she found the hotel completely empty.
