Apr. 27--Hempt Brothers Inc., a major midstate aggregate supplier and road construction company, was started in 1925, just four years after the founding of its major competitor, Pennsy Supply.
Unlike Pennsy, it has remained in family hands, with a fourth generation of Hempts in the business.
"We've been very fortunate that the family has gotten along all these years and continues to," said George Hempt, president and chairman of the Lower Allen Twp.-based firm.
