Dear Sandra: I have booked a cruise to the Bahamas. We will be spending a whole day in Nassau. What would you suggest as the "don't miss it" spots? Any places we should avoid? What is the average temperature in the Bahamas? - K.S.C., Oswego.
Dear K.S.C.: You should be able to see most of what Nassau has to offer on your own.
However, when the cruise ships arrive, it gets very crowded near the wharf. Avoid the crowd by taking a cab to Fort Fincastle for a panoramic view of Nassau.
From the fort is a short walk to the Queen's Staircase, built by slaves who cut the 66 steps out of sandstone ...
