HUDDLED behind a sweeping stone balustrade we found one of the most aristocratic windbreaks in the whole of England.
It was the most ideal spot for a picnic. In front of us the sweeping lawns and monumental fountain, depicting Perseus and Andromeda, provided a spectacle that once drew royalty from across the land.
Behind us towered the vast hollow edifice of the remains of Witley Court near Worcester.
