The first TLMI meeting that I attended was in 1996. Being new to the industry, I wasn't sure what to expect. After it was over I wondered if it was worth my time. No doubt it was a wonderful networking opportunity, but what else?

Over the years I have heard the following from non-TLMI members: "TLMI is a good old boy club." "Those meetings are all about golf." "If you're not part of the clique, you're not part of the group." "My company won't benefit by being a member. Talk to me when they can help improve my bottom line."

I am not one of the boys. I play golf, but I don't love the game. I usually choose not to golf at TLMI meetings.
