I like John Costas, chief executive of UBS Warburg. He is intellectually impressive, doesn't exaggerate and doesn't duck tricky questions.What a pity, then, that in a recent profile the interviewer failed to ask any serious questions about the prospects for UBS Warburg. From a personal point of view, the story was a triumph for Costas. He came across not as a job-slashing ogre but as a law-abiding citizen who has not had a speeding ticket in 10 years and rose to the top of Wall Street more by good luck and hard work than by demolishing the opposition.
