Queensland Rail (QR) launched in 1999 a five-year mission to reduce substantially greenhouse gas emissions per unit throughput. In November 2002, the Institution of Engineers Australia and the Australian Greenhouse Office presented QR with the 2002 Australian Greenhouse Challenge Gold Award in recognition of its outstanding performance.
QUEENSLAND Rail is Australia's largest rail network with nearly 9500km of predominantly 1067mm-gauge track.
