Catalogs, magazine subscriptions and advertising supplements are a bit less expensive to the consumer because Kelvin Johnson lobbied to defeat state sales taxes on them.
Johnson, president and CEO of a printing-industry trade association for 19 years, died Wednesday in St. Paul of complications from heart surgery. He was 52.
Johnson, of Lake Elmo, led the Printing Industry of Minnesota Inc. He turned it into the best affiliate of 36 that are associated with the national Printing Industry in America, said Jack Anderberg, CEO of Anderberg-Lund Printing Co., St. Louis Park.
