Abstract
The patient was previously treated with inositol hexaniacinate (IHN; 650mg three times daily for approximately two months) for chronic gastrointestinal symptoms due to achlorhydria. Approximately one month after discontinuing IHN, his previous gastrointestinal symptoms of bloating, flatus and soft stools returned. He resumed the INN treatment (500mg daily) and all of his gastrointestinal symptoms cleared within three days. This further suggests that INN supplement therapy might resolve an underlying vitamin B-3 dependency in this one patient.
