The Lord Chancellor, Lord Irvine, today raised a serious question mark over the future of the Silk system. Speaking at a ceremony to mark the appointment of 121 new Queen's Counsel, the Lord Chancellor explained his decision to issue a Consultation Paper on the future of the historic rank (which he announced before the LCD Select Committee on 2 April).
