Apr. 29--Plans to develop a golf course and an expanded ski area in Girdwood could move ahead more quickly as a result of Anchorage's recent mayoral election, promoters said Monday.
The 18-hole golf course, opposed by a slim majority of Girdwood residents according to the developer's survey, has been bogged down in litigation. But this month's election of Mark Begich as mayor could resolve the long-standing dispute if he offers to mediate, said Jim Barnett of Glacier Valley Development Corp.
